Women’s Ministry

Purpose:

The purpose of the Women’s Ministry is to unite and organize the women of First Church together as one to fellowship, to exhort one another, and to involve women in useful and worthwhile creative service through the Church. We are women called to give life, to beautify and to organize. We are “HELPERS” to the plan of God.

Goals: 

·        To reach out to other women in the body of Christ and the world

·        To promote excellence on display in the women of First Church Ministries

·        To assist in the financial increase of the church through fund raising

MOM’s  ( Mothering other Mothers)

A mother can always profit from the knowledge of others and the support of other women who have experienced what she is going through.  The goal of this “arm of the women’s ministry” is to continuously provide programs that support, educate and provide for the various needs of mothers.

Mentoring/Support:  A wealth of knowledge can be found in an experienced mother who has overcome life challenges through her relationship with Jesus Christ.  The goal of this group is to match up new or needy mothers with more experienced mothers for communication, nurture and support.  A focus will also be to provide opportunities for mothers to network with other mothers, provide opportunities for mothers to spend a designated amount of time to herself, provide assistance to mothers who need to accomplish a variety of tasks, support for military families, etc.

·        New Mom Dinners:  Plan, prepare and deliver meals to a new mother and her family shortly after returning home from the hospital.  All women of the congregation are encouraged to join this caring ministry.

In the Beginning:  This is a mail program that sends out materials to newborns that help mothers begin and carryout the Christian way to  bring up/raise their baby, for the first year of life.

Showers or Gift:  To support baby showers planned for married mothers who are members of the church and to purchase a gift welcoming the baby and encouraging the unmarried mothers who are members of the church.
